Observation and Recording Tools

The Research and Evaluation teams developed observation and recording protocols to collect data about enactment and outcomes of the leadership development activities. These protocols were designed to (a) collect data to answer research and evaluation questions regarding professional learning implementation and adaptations; and (b) provide timely and actionable feedback to the professional learning facilitators.

Observation Protocol

The observation protocol was a note-taking tool that was developed to identify: 

• intended learning outcomes of the professional learning experiences
• activities and tools used by the professional learning team
• observations and suggestions to share with the professional learning team)

Audio and Video Recording Protocol

The audio and video recording protocol was designed to support consistent data collection. The protocol identified:

• what type of data to record
• how to place the audio and video recording devices
• how to set the equipment up during professional learning sessions
